Question to know a little more about
His journey and his passion:
music and its audience
Born in Windsor in Sherbrooke in 1944
Young at the age of 7 he is a soloist of the choir
of the college he attends.
It is at the age of 17 that he takes singing lessons and everything really begins.
He creates his own band “Les Commanders”
where Rock’n Roll and Rhythm and Blues are on the menu.
The group will live 5 years giving way to a Jean Nichol alone on stage.
Jean Nichol alone on stage but discovering the success of service delivery.
It is in 1968 that it will be discovered by Guy Cloutier who will become his manager thereafter.
His first success will come in 1969 with Oh Lady Mary.
Thirty-five laps were produced, of which twenty titles will be number one in the list.
In 1975 he entered the Salle Wilfrid Pelletier and Place des Arts
where he performed his greatest hits.
Jean Nichol was the first Quebec artist to innovate the formula Souper / spectacle,
the singer performs in cabarets and Florida during the season.
Sharaton Hotels, Playboy Portage, Holliday Inn are places he attended
regularly to have successful benefits.
Hotel Castaways where he sold out for 5 years and was nicknamed “The best of Montreal”.
People loved Jean Nichol.
Jean Nichol did not stop! Always moving. A period of 4 years was allocated for
to rethink his career and to try writing, to relax and try to coax
jazz with his musicians.
1990 a serious automobile accident forced him to leave the Quebec scene
during a period of 6 years.
But it is with the love of his audience and his family that Jean Nichol, in style
Tom Jones’s crooning resurfaced stronger than ever.
A man with strong determination who has a passion for song and a generosity
extreme towards his audience.
You can still see him perform and come greet him at his shows.
Next show on Sunday, November 25 from 16h to 21h
